भामिनीविलासः-३५
वडवानलकालकूटवन्मकरव्यालगणैस्सहैधितः ।
रजनीरमणो भवेनृणां न कथं प्राणवियोगकारणम् ॥ १४१ ॥
अन्वयः : वडवानल-कालकूटवत्-मकर-व्यालगणैः सह एधितः रजनीरमणः
नृणां प्राणवियोगकारणं कथं न भवेत् ।
How will the moon which grew up along with vadava fire,
kalakuta poison, crocodiles and snakes not become a cause for death of people?
[ Having grown up with bad elements in the milky ocean it is no wonder if moon
is considered by love-sick people as scourge.]
लभ्येत पुण्यैर्गृहिणी मनोज्ञा तया सुपुत्राः परितः
पवित्राः ।
स्फीतं यशस्तैः समुदेति नित्यं तेनास्य नित्यः खलु नाकलोकः
॥ १४२ ॥
अन्वयः : पुण्यैः मनोज्ञा गृहिणी लभ्येत; तया परितः
पवित्राः सुपुत्राः; तैः स्फीतं यशः समुदेति; तेन अस्य नाकलोकः नित्यः खलु ।
As a result of good deeds done in the past birth, one
gets a charming wife; through her are got sons of good character around;
through them is got expanding fame; through fame eternal heaven is obtained.
प्रभुरपि याचितुकामो भजते वामोरु लाघवं सहसा ।
यदहं त्वयाधरार्थी सपदि विमुख्या निराशतां नीतः ॥ १४३ ॥
अन्वयः : वामोरु! प्रभुः
अपि याचितुकामः सहसा लाघवं भजते; यत् अधरार्थी अहं विमुख्या त्वया निराशतां नीतः ।
Lady of handsome thighs! Even a lord becomes suddenly
small when he wants to ask for something. I have become despondent as you,
being ill disposed, have refused my request for a kiss.
जलकुम्भमुम्भितरसं सपदि सरस्याः समानयन्त्यास्ते ।
तटकुञ्जगूढसुरतं भगवानेको मनोभवो वेद ॥ १४४ ॥
उम्भितरसं जलकुम्भं सरस्याः समानयन्त्याः ते सपदि
तटकुञ्जगूढसुरतं भगवान् मनोभवः एकः वेद ।
While bringing from the pond the water-pot filled with
water, your secret dalliance in the shrubs of banks (of the pond) is known only
to Lord Cupid.
त्वमिव पथिकः प्रियो मे विटपिस्तोमेषु गमयति क्लेशान् ।
किमितोऽन्यत् कुशलं मे संप्रति यत्पान्थ जीवामि ॥ १४५ ॥
अन्वयः : पान्थ! मे प्रियः त्वम् इव पथिकः (भूत्वा) विटपिस्तोमेषु
क्लेशान् गमयति । जीवामि (इति) यत् इतः अन्यत् किं कुशलम्?
Traveller! like you, my loving husband goes through hardship (spending time)
in groves of trees. What else can be said of my welfare other than that I am
alive? [A housewife replies to a traveller when asked about her welfare. Is it
suggestive of her being available? Only the poet knows.]
“किमिति कृशासि कृशोदरि?” “किं तव
परकीयवृत्तान्तैः?” ।
“कथय तथापि मुदे मम” “कथयिष्यति
पान्थ तव जाया” ॥ १४६ ॥
अन्वयः : “कृशोदरि! किम् इति कृशा असि?” “परकीयवृत्तान्तैः
तव किम्?” “तथा अपि मम मुदे कथय” “
पान्थ! तव जाया कथयिष्यति” ।
“Lady with slender middle! Why are you so lean?” “How do
other’s matters concern you?” “Even then, tell me for my amusement.” Traveller!
Your wife will tell you.” [It is a conversation between a traveler and a
housewife. She implies that she is lean for the same reason that the
traveller’s wife would be lean, namely separation from her husband.]
तुलामनालोक्य निजामखर्वं गौराङ्गि गर्वं न कदापि कुर्याः ।
लसन्ति नानाफलभारवत्यो लताः कियत्यो गहनान्तरेषु ॥ १४७ ॥
अन्वयः : गौराङ्गि! निजां तुलाम् अनालोक्य कदा अपि अखर्वं
गर्वं न कुर्याः । गहनान्तरेषु कियत्यः नानाफलभारवत्यः लताः लसन्ति!
Lady of
fair complexion! Without comparing yourself (with others) do not show excessive
haughtiness. How many are the trees heavily laden with fruits that are there in
deep forests! [Do not be proud of your physical endowments. There are many like
you even in remote places.]
इयमुल्लसिता मुखस्य शोभा परिफुल्लं नयनाम्बुजद्वयं ते ।
जलदादिमयं जगद्वितन्वन् कलितः क्वापि किमालि नीलमेघः ॥ १४८
॥
अन्वयः : आलि! ते मुखस्य इयं शोभा उल्लसिता, नयनाम्बुजद्वयं
परिफुल्लम् । जगत् जलद-आदि-मयं वितन्वन् नीलमेघः क्व अपि कलितः किम्?
Dear friend! The luster of your face has blossomed; your
lotus-like eyes have opened up. Has the dark-cloud-coloured Krishna
appeared rendering the world to be full of clouds? [With the appearence of
cloud-like Krishna on the scene there is his
dark luster all around and his sweetheart’s face has brightened.]
आसायं सलिलान्तः सवितारमुपास्य सादरं तपसा ।
अधुनाब्जेन मनाक् तव मानिनि तुलना मुखस्यापि ॥ १४८ ॥
अन्वयः : मानिनि! आसायं सलिलान्तः सादरं तपसा सवितारमुपास्य
अधुना अब्जेन तव मुखस्य तुलना मनाक् अपि (लब्धा) ।
Lady of self respect! After devotedly worshipping the sun
staying under water since evening the lotus has now attained a bit of
comparability with your face. [Lotus has to do penance under water to attain
comparability with her face!]
अयि मन्दस्मितमधुरं वदनं तन्वङ्गि यदि मनाक् कुरुषे ।
अधुनैव कलय शमितं राकारमणस्य हन्त साम्राज्यम् ॥ १५० ॥
अन्वयः : अयि तन्वङ्गि! यदि वदनं मन्दस्मितमधुरं मनाक्
कुरुषे, अधुना एव, हन्त, राकारमणस्य साम्राज्यं शमितं कलय ।
Dear lady of slender limbs! If
you make your face pleasant even a bit by a smile, alas, you may take it for
granted that the suzerainty of the moon (over pleasantness) gets doused. - - - -
