Dear friend! I am unable to speak as I have been awake throughout the night listening to stories told by my beloved who has come from a far-off place. Please do not chatter. Your tongue appears iron-like. [The lady enchanted by the stories narrated by her beloved has no time to listen to a chatter-box and she rudely puts her off.]

When shall I see the blue lotus-like eyes of doe-eyed damsel with the irises steady due to withholding of the falling tears?

O Lakshmana! Of what use is this static living or this world if the doe-eyed (beloved of mine) does not come in the line of my eye-sight? [So laments Rama to Lakshmana while searching for Sita.]

The girl while entering the house cast a string of glance lotuses on the young men who were greedily looking forward to a little benefit of (the glances signifying her) command to go away. [The girl who was aware that she is being followed by young men cast her glances at them while entering her house. The young men were in turn too eager to catch her glance signifying that they should leave her alone!]

A sin was committed by me, an unfortunate one, in sending away Sita. How will she, the moon-faced, sustain her life without me? How will I look at the faces of the cultured people? What will they say of me? Let the kingdom go to the nether-world. I do not want to live. [Lamentations of Rama after sending away Sita to forest.]

The anger of the doe-eyed lady which drank, as it were, the luster of a lion which drove away the boldness of ladies became a momentary guest despite strengthened by the memory of old follies. [Despite her lover’s old follies, her anger which could put to shame the anger of a lion faded away quickly, (when appeased by the lover.)]

Young lady! By providing shelter to me, please remove the threat I have got from the king (moon) who is ill-disposed towards me. [This is an open request from a traveler to a lady to provide shelter. As राजन् also means moon, it can also be interpreted as a request for carnal favours as he finds it difficult to be lonely on a moon-lit night.]
