भामिनीविलासः-२३
यौवनोद्गमनितान्तशङ्किताः शीलशौर्यबलकान्तिलोभिताः ।
सङ्कुचन्ति विकसन्ति राघवे जानकीनयननीरजश्रियः ॥ ३६ ॥
अन्वयः : जानकी-नयन-नीरज-श्रियः राघवे
यौवनोद्गम-नितान्त-शङ्किताः सङ्कुचन्ति, शील-शौर्य-बल-कान्ति-लोभिताः विकसन्ति ।
The lustre of Sita’s lotus-like eyes diminish being very
apprehensive of the rising youth of Rama and (at the same time) expand
enamoured of his conduct, valour, strength and lustre. [ As a bashful bride
Sita is apprehensive of Rama’s youth but is very proud of his valour and
conduct.]
अधिरोप्य हरस्य हन्त चापं परितापं प्रशमय्य बान्धवानाम् ।
परिणेष्यति वा न वा युवायं निरपायं मिथिलाधिनाथपुत्रीम् ॥
३७ ॥
अन्वयः : अयं युवा हरस्य चापम् अधिरोप्य बान्धवानां तापं
प्रशमय्य
मिथिल-अधिनाथ-पुत्रीं निरपायं परिणेष्यति व न वा, हन्त
(इति मिथिलापुरजनाः अचिन्तयन्)।
After having raised the bow of Shiva and
having calmed the worries of relatives, will this young man marry or not , the
daughter of Mithila’s king without any hitch? (thus thought the citizens of
Mithila).
भुजपञ्जरे गृहीता नवपरिणीता वरेण रहसि वधूः ।
तत्कालजालपतिता बालकुरङ्गीव वेपते नितराम् ॥ ३८ ॥
अन्वयः : नवपरिणीता वधूः रहसि वरेण भुजपञ्जरे गृहीता
तत्काल-जाल-पतिता बाल-कुरङ्गी इव नितरां वेपते ।
As the newly wed bride is tightly held between his cage-like shoulders by the
bridegroom, she trembles very much like
a young deer fallen into the net suddenly.
उपनिषदः परिपीता गीतापि च हन्त मतिपथमानीता ।
तदपि न हा विधुवदना मानससदनात् बहिर्याति ॥ ३९ ॥
Upanishads were drunk (studied); Even Gita was brought to
bear on the mind. Even then the moon-faced damsel refuses to quit my mind.
अकरुणहृदय प्रियतम मुञ्चामि त्वामितः परं नाहम् ।
इत्यालपति कराम्बुजमादायालीजनस्य विकला सा ॥ ४० ॥
अन्वयः : विकला सा आलीजनस्य कराम्बुजम् आदाय ,”
अकरुणहृदय प्रियतम! इतः परं त्वां न मुञ्चामि” इति आलपति ।
Holding the lotus-like hands of her lady friends the
desperate lady cries, “ O cruel hearted dearest! From now on I shall not let
you away from me.”
लोभाद्वराटिकानां विक्रेतुं तक्रमविरतमटन्त्या ।
लब्धो गोपकिशोर्या मध्येरथ्यं महेन्द्रनीलमणिः ॥ ४१ ॥
अन्वयः : वराटिकानां लोभात् तक्रं विक्रेतुम् अविरतम्
अटन्त्या गोपकिशोर्या मध्येरथ्यं महेन्द्रनीलमणिः लब्धः ।
When the cowherdess was wandering continuously to sell
curds with the desire of obtaining cowries, she chanced in the streets on a
sapphire originating in Mahendra mountain. [This almost reads like a proverb
about how a stroke of luck could change ones fortune.]
रूपारुचिं निरसितुं रसयन्त्या हरिमुखस्य लावण्यम् ।
सुदृशः शिव शिव सकले जाता सकलेवरे जगत्यरुचिः ॥ ४२ ॥
अन्वयः : रूप-अरुचिं निरसितुं हरिमुखस्य लावण्यं रसयन्त्याः
सुदृशः सकलेवरे सकले जगति अरुचिः जाता । शिव शिव ।
When the good-looking woman was enjoying the beauty of Krishna’s face in order to get rid of a distaste for form
in general, she lost interest in the whole world and the bodies, Oh God! [
Perhaps she was dissatisfied with her beauty and started looking at Krishna. The unexpected consequence of this was that she
lost interest in the whole world and felt detached!]
प्राणापहरणेनासि तुल्यो हालाहलेन मे ।
शशाङ्क केन मुग्धेन सुधांशुरिति भाषितः ॥ ४३ ॥
अन्वयः : शशाङ्क! मे प्राण-अपहरणेन हालाहलेन तुल्यः असि ।
केन मुग्धेन (त्वं) सुधांशुः इति भाषितः ।
O Moon! You are to me like halahala poison, which takes
away ones life. Which fool called you “sudhaamshu”- one whose rays are
ambrosia!
